RECTOR
OF MARIA CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERISTY IN LUBLIN
announces a competition for the position of an Assistant in the group of research and teaching staff in the Department of Archival Science and Auxiliary Sciences of History at the Institute of History, the Faculty of History and Archaeology UMCS
The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571 as amended) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.
I. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:
- having a professional title of Master of History/Archival Studies;
- having an reference letter opinion prepared by an independent research and teaching employee regarding predispositions for research and teaching work;
- knowledge of English and Russian;
- ability to work with handwritten and printed sources from the 19th and 20th centuries written in Russian and English, confirmed by scientific publications;
II. APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:
- an application requesting employment addressed to the Rector of UMCS;
- a copy of the Master of History/Archival Studies diplomas;
- a personal questionnaire and CV;
- a list of scientific publications;
- a list of scientific, teaching, and organizational achievements;
- a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571 as amended);
- a candidate's declaration that UMCS will be a primary workplace;
- a candidate's declaration that they agree to the processing of personal data under Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation);
- references, opinion confirming candidate’s sufficient research aptitude.
III. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- employment based on an employment contract for a definite period from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026 of full-time work in a primary workplace.

The competition will be settled no later than July 11, 2025
The candidate selected in the recruitment procedure, before entering into the employment relationship, is obliged to provide originals or true certified copies of the documents referred to in point II of this announcement, which must be sent to the address indicated in point IV.
The university does not provide housing.
The settlement of the competition does not result in establishing the employment relationship. The decision on employment is made by the Rector. The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.

The administrator of your personal data is the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin with its registered office at Pl. Marii Curie - Skłodowskiej 5, 20-031 Lublin (hereinafter: UMCS).
The personal data administrator has appointed a person supervising the correctness of personal data processing, who can be contacted via the e-mail address: iod@mail.umcs.pl.
Candidates are required to provide data in the scope resulting from Article 22 of the Labour Code and specific provisions concerning employment in a given position. Providing data in a broader scope than required by the provisions is voluntary. The basis for data processing is the law and consent, in relation to data exceeding the area resulting from the provisions.
Under Article 7 paragraph 3 of the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to data exceeding the scope provided for by law, the data subject has the right to withdraw their consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Under Articles 15 to 21 and Article 77 of the General Data Protection Regulation, the data subject has the right to access, rectify, delete or limit processing, and the right to object to the processing, as well as to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, as well as the right to transfer data. The collected personal data will not be sold or made available to third parties, except for those authorized under the law, nor will they be transferred to third countries or international organizations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.
The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until a possible objection is raised or consent is withdrawn, and after that time for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, as well as for the purposes and for the period and in to the extent required by law to secure any claims.
The recipients of personal data may be entities authorized under the law and entities that process personal data on behalf of the Administrator, based on a concluded contract for entrusting the processing of personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory body - the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw).
The data you provide will not be processed for the purpose of automated decision-making, and will not be subject to profiling.
