RECTOR
OF MARIA CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERSITY IN LUBLIN
announces a competition for the position of a language teacher in the group of teaching staff in The Polish Language and Culture Centre for Polish People from Abroad and Foreigners UMCS
The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571 as amended) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.
I. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:
- at least a Master’s degree of the Polish philology or modern languages studies;
- an opinion confirming candidate’s sufficient teaching aptitude;
- experience in teaching Polish as a foreign language at different levels of competence;
- experience in teaching students;
- experience in teaching Polish to English-speaking students;
- post-graduate studies in teaching Polish as a foreign language;
- examiner’s experience in certificate exams in Polish as a foreign language;
- experience in conducting courses preparing for certificate exams;
- experience in teaching methodology at postgraduate courses for teachers of Polish as a foreign language;
- participation in projects promoting Polish and Polish culture among foreigners and in promotional activities;
- command of English at least at B1/B2 level;
- experience in conducting classes on Polish culture, history of the region, tourist attractions of Lublin and its surroundings in Polish and English;
- participation in training sessions and workshops improving teacher’s competences;
- scientific publications, including those in linguistics, media communications, glottodidactics;
- participation in scientific and teaching conferences;
- organizational experience concerning such events as city quests, didactic games, meetings, webinars competitions;
- experience in using IT tools in teaching Polish as a foreign language;
- experience in creation and posting content in social media.
II. APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:
- a cover letter addressed to the Rector of UMCS;
- a copy of the master diploma(s);
- a personal questionnaire and a CV or resumé;
- a list of scientific, teaching and organizational achievements;
- a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571 as amended);
- a declaration stating that UMCS will be the candidate's primary place of employment; a declaration of consent for the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation);
- references, current opinion confirming teaching aptitude of the candidate.
III. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Employment based on an employment contract for a definite period from 1st October 2025 to 30th September 2026 of full-time work in a primary workplace.

The deadline for submitting documents is 7 July 2025.
The competition will be settled no later than 15 July 2025.
The candidate selected in the recruitment procedure, before entering into employment relationship, is obliged to provide originals or true certified copies of the documents referred to in point II of this announcement, which must be sent to the address indicated in point IV.
The university does not provide housing.
The settlement of the competition does not result in establishing an employment relationship. The decision on employment is made by the Rector. The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.

Candidates are required to provide data in the scope resulting from Article 22 of the Labour Code and specific provisions concerning employment in a given position. Providing data in a broader scope than required by the provisions is voluntary. The basis for data processing is the law and consent, in relation to data exceeding the area resulting from the provisions.
In accordance with Article 7 paragraph 3 of the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to data exceeding the scope provided for by law, the data subject has the right to withdraw their consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
In accordance with Articles 15 to 21 and Article 77 of the General Data Protection Regulation, the data subject has the right to access, rectify, delete or limit processing, and the right to object to the processing, as well as to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, as well as the right to transfer data. The collected personal data will not be sold or made available to third parties, except for those authorized under the law, nor will they be transferred to third countries or international organizations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.
The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until a possible objection is raised or consent is withdrawn, and after that time for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, as well as for the purposes and for the period and in to the extent required by law to secure any claims.
The recipients of personal data may be entities authorized under the law and entities that process personal data on behalf of the Administrator, based on a concluded contract for entrusting the processing of personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory body - the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw).
